Creative & Playful Counselling Centre – A Hub for Children’s Education & Mental Health in Havelock

Havelock has a new hub for families seeking mental health, education, and support services! The Creative & Playful Counselling Centre, located at 75 Concession Street, was founded by Hannah Lewis, Family Therapist and mom of four.

Launched in 2023 as Creative & Playful Counselling, Hannah’s solo practice quickly grew to meet the rising need for child mental health supports in our rural community. Seeing how closely a child’s mental health and education are connected, Hannah expanded into a Centre for Children’s Education and Mental Health — a welcoming multi-office space that brings together highly trained professionals to support children and their families.

Today, the Centre offers a full spectrum of services, including:

• Play Therapy & EMDR
• IEP Support & Advocacy
• Parent Support
• Ontario Autism Program & Funding Support
• Tutoring & Learning Support
• Workshops, Groups & Classes
• Homeschool Support & Montessori Education Consultations

To ensure families receive comprehensive care, Hannah has built a strong team of local professionals who each bring specialized expertise:

• Lee Kellogg, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) – An Art Therapist with a specialty in arts and crafts, Lee provides creative therapeutic activities, groups, and opportunities for clients.
• Tia Neilson, BA in Psychology – A Behavioural and Educational Support Practitioner and founder of the Roots & Wings program, Tia supports children and their caregivers with behaviour and education concerns related to neurodivergence.
• Burkie’s Bright Minds – Now proudly working alongside the Centre, they specialize in tutoring students in grades 6–8, focusing on building confidence, improving academic skills, and encouraging a love of learning through personalized, one-on-one sessions.
• Gracefully Wild Montessori – Meaghan King – Offering Montessori and home education support, while also guiding Mompreneurs who are balancing business ownership with educating their children. Meaghan will play a key role in the Working Mom Collective.

Alongside these services, the Centre is home to unique family-focused programs that strengthen connections and ease the pressures of caregiving:

• Mom Support Groups – offering understanding, guidance, and encouragement for moms balancing parenting, home, and work.
• Working Mom Collective – beginning this September, moms can enjoy focused work time while children ages 0–6 participate in quality educational programming onsite.
• Family Learning Pod – an educational experience for families with children ages 2–10, where Hannah leads creative learning sessions so caregivers can simply enjoy the experience.

In just two years, Hannah has transformed her vision into a multi-office Centre with a team of certified professionals, filling a vital gap in local supports. The Creative & Playful Counselling Centre is more than a counselling practice — it is a community success story, offering families in Havelock and surrounding areas a trusted place to find care, connection, and growth.
