Progress Report May 20th to May 30th, 2025

As I’m sure most of you have noticed, QBT has begun the underground work on George Street
East. Picking up from where we left off last year, just west of Victoria Street, and progressing
westerly towards Oak Street.

At present, the pipe work has extended to the front of House #18. It is expected that the pipe
work will extend to approximately House #10 by month’s end.

Drivers, please take note, at both ends of the project there are Road Closed signs.

These signs are meant to protect you as well as the workers. Heavy trucks, loaders, excavators
and construction materials deliveries etc. are operating in this area. Do NOT access George
Street beyond the signs. If mobility is an issue QBT employees are happy to assist you.

Remember…..it is ILLEGAL to drive beyond a Road Closed sign and could result in a hefty fine
and the loss of demerit points. (Section 134 of the Highway Traffic Act)

QBT employees are working hand in hand with the homeowners within the construction area
to assist them. If you are picking up or dropping off mail, park on Oak Street and proceed on
foot on the sidewalk.

In addition, an alternate pedestrian access to the Post Office may be accomplished via a
pathway from Oak Street, between the Real Estate Office and the Bakery. No vehicles are
permitted via this access.

When construction approaches the immediate vicinity of the Post Office a notice will be posted
on the front door to provide information regarding its access, in advance.
