George St. Construction - Progress Report June 30 to July 11, 2025
Well, here we are everyone. The mainline pipe is installed on George Street East, and the roadwork has begun.

The last pipe was installed on June 20th after which the roadwork began. Pressure The last pipe was installed on June 20th after which the roadwork began. Pressure testing of the new watermain has been completed successfully, then super chlorinated for 24 hours to kill off any bacteria. Once this was completed a water sample was taken to ensure there is no bacteria, with a second, confirmatory sample, taken the following day.

On Wednesday July 2nd the first connection of the new watermain to the existing will take place. The connection will be undertaken in the area just west of Virginia Street, after which the homes will be connected to the new watermain. On Monday July 7th the final connection of the new watermain to the existing watermain at Oak Street will be completed. Notices will be handed out 48 hours prior, advising all who may be affected by the temporary shutdown.

It is expected that the concrete contractor will be here as well on the second week of July beginning with the sidewalk forming. Unfortunately, there will be no access to your driveways during the concrete work. (Photo from last year)
Preparatory works will commence on Quebec Street on Monday, July 7th, with the underground work beginning shortly thereafter. Signs will be set up in preparation of and prior to the works on Quebec Street.
