Crowe Valley Conservation Authority – Level Three Low Water Condition Update – Oct. 17, 2025

Crowe Valley Conservation Authority – Level Three Low Water Condition Update – Oct. 17, 2025

CVCA has advised the Level Three Low Water Condition will remain in effect, based on flow and precipitation data for September 2025.

As we head into colder weather, we know water conservation may not be at the forefront of everyone’s minds anymore.  Please continue to reduce non-essential water uses in order to preserve our watershed.

Rainfall for the month continued to be well below average, even though we did get a few days of rain (fingers crossed for more). Our three-month precipitation average at the Glen Alda gauge is 40.70% of the average rainfall for this period, and the one-month precipitation is 30.02% of the average.

Our flows continue to be extremely low as well. The monthly flow at Crowe River Marmora is 23.4% of the lowest average summer month flow. Crowe River at Glen Alda is 5.17%, and Beaver Creek is 16.51% of their respective lowest average summer monthly flows.

This data is supported by results from the MNRF low water analysis for the month.

The criteria for the Level Three Low Water Condition are less than 40% of the average precipitation, or less than 30% of the average flow. We are currently meeting both of these criteria. The precipitation criteria can be based on either the three-month or one- month average. Under a Level Three Low Water Condition, residents, businesses, industries, and municipalities are asked to voluntarily reduce their water use by 30%.

We will continue to monitor conditions and report any changes and greatly appreciate your cooperation during this time. – HBM Township.
