2025/2026 DEPOSIT RETURN Program – Fundraising Opportunity
HBM Township is encouraging local community not-for-profit organizations to apply to become its 2025/26 Deposit Return Program Partner and receive fundraiser benefit from all Deposit Returns “deposited” at the 6th Line Transfer Station. The application deadline is May 31, 2025.
To submit an application, visit Deposit Return Program - Community Partner - Havelock-Belmont-Methuen (hbmtwp.ca)
The outcomes of this partnership are to:
- build community relationships
- increase residential access to appropriate provincial deposit return recycling systems
- improve the awareness of recycling within the County of Peterborough
- provide funding for community partner
As part of the community partner application process, applicants will outline how and where the deposit program funds are to be utilized and expand on how the monies will directly benefit the community. Council will share this information with the public.
Many have asked or wondered, why does a project such as this take so long…. the answer is
shown in the photos above. The work does not consist of merely putting pipe in the ground
but also connecting the existing water and sanitary services to the new sewer and water at the
lot lines.
Despite the challenges, QBT have accomplished in advancing to House #10, this week.
It is expected they will be in the immediate proximity of the Post Office by June 13th.
We would like to remind all that there is no vehicular access to the Post Office, however
parking is available on Oak Street as well as George Street West. Do NOT drive beyond the
Road Closed signs.
There is a Truck Spotter who guides the trucks when backing across the intersection of Oak and
George Streets into the construction zone. These trucks have a large blind spot behind them
and will sound their sound just prior to backing. For everyone’s safety please follow any
guidance provided by the Spotter.
