Storm Update: Thursday July 02, 2026
Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Public Works, Parks & Recreation, and Fire Department staff are out cleaning up trees and debris on public property and mitigating any issues, when possible. The first priority is to clear municipally-maintained roads where trees and hydro lines are down. We cannot clear any trees or debris until the hydro line is cleared.
Hydro One:
Hydro One is aware of the infrastructure damage and are triaging areas. Residents and businesses need to plan to manage without power. Stay clear of downed hydro lines and avoid unnecessary travel whenever possible.
You can use the Hydro One App to report downed wires and check on the status of an outage. Customers can also text their address to WATTS(92887) for direct updates or sign up for email and text alerts at http://ow.ly/qiEu30skePZ.
Cell service and internet were also affected. Communication is limited in our area.
Havelock Library:
The Havelock Library (13 Quebec St, Havelock, ON K0L 1Z0) is available for the public to recharge phones and have access to internet. When the library is closed, there are outlets outside the front door that can be used for recharging.

Safety Tips:
Anyone with generators:
• Do not place it under an open window or in a garage due to potential carbon monoxide poisoning;
• Remember to shut off the main power in your residence. By not doing this, you could endanger those who come to work on fixing the hydro wires.
• Turn generators off while refueling.
• Anyone on oxygen without electricity, you need to call the company that supplies your oxygen to receive backup.
• If the service line has come away from your house, you will need to shut off the main power at your panel.
Your patience during this time is greatly appreciated as there is much work to be completed by the Township, by the County, and by Hydro One.
Thank you.
