Seabrook Family Plaque Presentation
Thank you to all who attended the Plaque Presentation today honouring the Seabrook Family.
If you were unable to attend, the plaque and family stone can be viewed west of the Havelock Visitor Centre.
As one of many early pioneers to this area, the Seabrook family immigrated from the Ferns area of the County Wexford, Ireland. They arrived in Ontario in the mid 1800s, settling on Lot 5, Concession 6, in what was then Belmont Township – 5km east of Havelock.
The family’s property is part of the mining history of the Township, as minerals were discovered in 1913. It has since been sold to Ontario Rock Company, later acquired by 3M, and now owned and operated by Drain Bros of Norwood.
