Declaration of a Significant Weather Event - Sunday December 28, 2025

The Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen has declared a Significant Weather Event, following the weather alert issued by Environment Canada - 5:27 AM EST Sunday 28 December 2025.

Significant freezing rain expected this afternoon into early Monday morning. What: Freezing rain leading to icy surfaces. Ice accretion or build-up of 5 to 15 mm on some surfaces beginning this afternoon into early Monday morning.

Freezing rain is expected to begin this afternoon and continue overnight. The freezing rain may briefly change over to rain Monday morning as temperatures are expected to climb to just above the freezing mark. Roads and walkways may become icy and slippery.

Prolonged utility outages are possible. Significant damage to property, including some buildings and trees, is possible due to the weight of ice.

Public Works staff will continue to monitor the weather forecast and issue updates.
