Phase 2 – William St. Construction Progress Report - November 2 to November 13, 2026
While waiting for the necessary modifications to the gas main, QBT workers have been busy completing work on George Street. This includes the pouring of concrete at the base of the decorative light installed outside of the post office, pouring of additional sidewalk, and a handicap ramp behind the Senior’s Centre.
Other finishing touches along George Street include line painting and the crosswalks and stop bars have received a coating of durable paint. HBM Township has also added 2 commemorative crosswalks on Oak Street and George Street.
Enbridge Gas has completed the modifications to the gas main. As such, pipe laying operations have continued northerly on William Street to a storm structure located across on William Street.
At this structure the pipe will change from an elliptical shape to the standard round pipe. The elliptical pipe was incorporated due to the shallow cover. In order that sufficient cover was maintained the elliptical pipe was used. This elliptical pipe has the same carrying capacity as the 1500mm round pipe.
From November 2 to November 13, the pipe work will continue northerly approaching the intersection of William and George Streets.
Clean up operations will then begin as well as grading the granulars in preparation for the asphalt. It is anticipated that this work will be completed by November 20, 2026.
