October is Small Business Month
Let’s support and celebrate our small businesses this October!
October is Small Business Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the vital role that small businesses play in our communities. They are the backbone of our economy, employing people (often our friends and family) and contribute significantly to local growth and prosperity.
Small businesses are MORE than just entities in enterprise; they are the heart of our communities, providing jobs, services and unique local character. Throughout October, we will be shining a spotlight on the incredible impact these businesses have on our communities, families and daily lives. This is our chance to highlight the hard work, dedication and resilience of those who keep our communities thriving.
A meaningful way to show your favourite local businesses you care is to refer, review, recommend, and/or provide testimonials.
- 91% of consumers read online reviews for local businesses.
- 90% of consumers read less than 10 reviews before forming an opinion about a business.
- 73% of consumers think that reviews older than 3 months are no longer relevant. So make sure you’re consistent with getting fresh reviews!
- 58% of consumers say that the star rating of a business is more important than any other factor, with 8% actually saying the business had to have 5/5 stars for them to shop there.
