HEAT WARNING ISSUED – JUNE 30 – JULY 03, 2026
Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued an Orange Heat Warning for our region. From Tuesday, June 30 – Friday, July 3, daytime highs may reach 36°C with humidex values in the mid 40s.
This first heat event of the year coincides with Canada Day festivities, please adjust plans if needed.
- Stay hydrated
- Check on vulnerable neighbours
- Seek shade or cooling centres
Heat can be dangerous especially for older adults, young children, and those with health conditions. If you need a break, visit air conditioned spaces, cooling centres, or local splash pads.
The Havelock Library, an HBM cooling centre, will be open Friday July 03 between 1:00pm-7:00pm. The Havelock Library is located at 13 Quebec St.
The HBM Splash Pad, located at the George Street Park – 39 George Street East, will be running everyday 10:00am-8:00pm.
