George/Oak Street Construction - Progress Report July 27 to August 4, 2026

The pipe work on George Street to Quebec Street has been completed, and the road building has begun. As the road work continues on George Street, the watermain testing is also under way. Lab results are expected late Friday, July 24, 2026.

Connections to the new existing watermain are scheduled to begin on Monday July 27, 2026. Notices will be passed out informing those affected, of anticipated water interruptions. These interruptions will be in stages until all new connections to the existing new watermain are made, followed by the connections of the new water services to the existing residences and businesses.

The week of August 4, 2026, the final preparations for sidewalk and roads will be under way. After which, final grading etc. in preparation for concrete work on Oak Street. 

Be advised, Oak Street will be CLOSED to vehicles beginning Monday July 27, 2026, for a period of 2-3 weeks while the work is being done. Please see the notice below.

🚧 Oak St. Road Closure – Starting Monday July 27, 2026🚧

Oak St. from Ottawa St. to George St. will be temporarily closed to all vehicles beginning on Monday July 27, 2026, for approximately 2 – 3 weeks. 

Please follow all posted detour routes and parking signs. 

Temporary parking will be available in the parking lot on the south side of Highway 7, west of the Oak St.

Please do not park in parking lot east of Oak St., so as not to affect the weekly Havelock Farmers Market. 

The Municipal Office and other businesses on Oak St. will remain open for business as usual.
