George Street Construction Progress Report – May 18 to May 29, 2026

In preparation for sewer installation, temporary water connections are complete and groundwater control points have been installed.

The installation of the new sanitary sewer has begun commencing easterly from Quebec Street. As result the intersection of Quebec and George is closed to traffic until such time as the work progresses sufficiently. When safe to do so, the intersection will be re-opened. However, the construction traffic may cause some delays. There will be a monitor at the intersection to guide the trucks through and assist in guiding you through the intersection.

For your safety and that of the construction workers, please do not proceed past the Road Closure signs posted.

When attending businesses on the south side of George Street West, please park directly behind the business which you are visiting. Travel through the municipal parking lot off Oak Street to your destination. Do not park in municipal parking lot as it is a private parking lot and you may be ticketed.

Additional parking has been made available by The Royal Canadian Legion at 8 Ottawa Street East. Please park at the west end of the parking lot so as not to interfere with the Legion business.

In addition, a temporary pedestrian access walkway has been installed behind the Legion which allows access to Perfection Plus and Cooper’s Therapy.
