George Street Construction - Progress Report - June 15, 2026 to June 26, 2026

The sanitary sewer installation from Quebec Street easterly has been completed. QBT construction workers are now installing the storm sewer and watermain from Oak Street westerly to Quebec Street.
A “Cut & Cap” operation is scheduled for Monday June 15th. Water service will be interrupted from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. The affected area will be Hwy 7 from Orange Street to just west of Quebec Street, and Oak Street south of George Street. Once the operation is completed and the water service is reinstated, it may be advisable to SLOWLY open a cold-water tap, to minimize any splashes if there is an air pocket in the water line.
Work will then continue on George Street West, while we await the arrival of the storm structures. The Oak and George Street intersection will remain closed for an additional period of time. North and south access can be accomplished via Orange Street and Quebec Street.
As a reminder, those wishing to access the businesses on the south side of George Street may do so by driving through the Oak Street parking lot and parking directly behind the business itself. There is also an access behind the Legion, however please park in the vicinity of the pathway so as not to interfere with Legion business.
