George Street Construction - Progress Report - June 1, 2026 to June 12, 2026

QBT construction workers have continued pipe laying operations eastward on George Street and are now approaching the intersection of Oak Street. An oversized trench box is set into the excavation to allow a larger area of excavation for the placement of a manhole.

It is expected that on June 1, 2026, QBT will begin a temporary water installation on Oak Street, south of George Street. This will service the three residents/businesses on Oak Street southerly during the installation of new watermain.

Complete road closures will be required at the intersection of George Street and Oak Street beginning June 1, 2026. The estimated time of this closure is a minimum of 3 weeks. Both northbound and southbound traffic will NOT be able to pass through this intersection. Please avoid this area.

Alternate routes will be Orange Street and Quebec Street (re-opening June 1, 2026). 

HBM Township advises all pedestrians and those travelling by vehicle to use extreme caution when near the construction site.
