Notice Concerning an Amendment to By-law No. 2012-54, being a By-law which adopted

the Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Official Plan

Take Notice that the Corporation of the Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen is proposing to amend the Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen By-law No. 2012-54 which adopted the Official Plan of the Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen, to remove the entirety of the Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Official Plan, save and except for certain sections and schedules. 

Take Further Notice that the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen will hold a public meeting on October 20^th, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. to consider the proposed amendment to By-law No. 2012-54. The Public Meeting will be held in hybrid fashion (in-person and electronically).

If you wish to participate in the meeting virtually, please locate the applicable meeting date on the Township’s Council Calendar webpage. The virtual link is located on the coversheet of the meeting agenda. 

The Municipality is using Zoom for electronic meetings. The application can be downloaded to either a computer or cell phone. It is recommended that you test the program in advance of the meeting. Meetings will also be recorded and made available on YouTube for public viewing as soon as possible following the meeting.

Purpose and Effect:

The purpose of this amendment to By-law No. 2012-54 is to remove the entirety of the Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Official Plan, save and except for certain sections and schedules. The New Peterborough County Official Plan was approved on August 4^th, 2026 by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, providing an upper-tier planning framework for all land within the County’s jurisdiction. The New Peterborough County Official Plan establishes land use policies and schedules for seven local municipalities within the County, including the Township of Havelock Belmont Methuen. This proposed by-law amendment would have the effect of removing the entirety of the Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Official Plan, save and except for certain sections and schedules where the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing has withheld a decision on the Peterborough County Official Plan. 

This notice applies to the entirety of lands within the Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen.

If you wish to be notified of the decision of the Council of the Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen on the proposed amendment to By-law No. 2012-54, you must make a written request to the Clerk of the Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen at the address below.
